So with a bubbly pink soda in one hand, Maggie dropped by Benefit Cosmetics Starhill, where she sat down with Farhanah Firdaus, or better yet known as faafirds for an exclusive interview to share her life-long beauty secrets and a couple of beauty tips.

Q. How long have you been in Malaysia & when is your next flight?

A: I’ve only been here for a couple of day, and before this I was in Singapore, so basically, I’m doing a Southeast Asia tour. My next destination is Thailand and my flight is tonight. We’re going to be doing product launches and talking to bloggers such as yourself and medias.

Q. At what age did you start wearing makeup and why?

A: As a young girl, you desperately want to play with makeup. I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup until I was thirteen years old even though I grew up with makeup.

Q. What was your first ever makeup product?

A: Benetint to wear on my cheeks and lips. My mother didn’t want me to look too mature. Benenint makes a person looks really natural so it was okay.

Q. What is benefit cosmetic’s philosophy?

A: Laughter is the best cosmetic. We believe that when a woman is smiling and laughing, that is when she is the most beautiful, even when she isn’t wearing makeup. Smiling brings out the inner beauty. That is the most important thing.

Q. What is your must have benefit product?

A: Gimme Brow. It is essential for me. When I was from San Francisco getting to Singapore, I was wearing nothing but my Gimme Brows. It’s my holy grail! My husband has probably never seen me without it. When you’re not wearing any brow product, I feel naked. Brows gives shape and definition.

Q. What is the one thing a woman shouldn’t go out without?

A: Brows, definitely! Besides that, mascara. This is because mascara gives definition to they eyes. You could have round, almond, droopy, small or hooded eyes, your lashes are supposed to be curled, long, dark and luscious. After all, the eyes are the windows to the soul. So mascara to me is super important and today, I’m wearing Roller Lash!

Q. What is the upcoming product that Benefit is planning to release?

A: I can’t tell you exactly what it is but I could give you hints! We have two new products coming out and one is part of the Porefessional line and the other two is a part of They’re Real mascara this summer. It’s so great, I’m sure you’re going to love this!

Q. What is the specialty that will differ this upcoming product from the previous ones?

A: Especially with the They’re Real products, we’re trying to get new customers and expand our market. So from the ideas we already have, we’re going to expand it even more!

Q. What is the best beauty advice or tips you could give to the girls out there, specifically in Malaysia?

A: As Malaysia is really humid, you don’t want to wear too much makeup as it will melt and go yucky and sticky. It does not feel good. So I think it’s important for you to wear the most minimal. I like to use porefessioal and maybe some powder foundation or concealer.
